In “The Bass, the River, and Shelia Mant,” should the narrator cut the line. Why or why not?
TS: The narrator should have not cut the line because he likes fishing.
CD: HOwever at the end of the story the girl he has been crushing on ends up choosing another guy because she doesnt like fishing.
CM: This shows that he would have at least ended up with a fish that would make him happy.
CM: This is because he likes fishing.
CS: In conclusion, he should like girls that are his age and that like the same things he does.
TS: It is ironic that Jim buys the combs for Della because Della cut her hair off and sold it to buy a watch fob.
CD: Jim had to sell his precious watch to buy Della the combs she has been wanting.
CM: Della thought she needed to buy Jim an expensive to make him happy.
CM: Jim felt like he needed to sell his watch to buy Della a really good gift.
CS: In conclusion, they thought by selling their precious gifts they could make the other feel happy, but they ended up not using the gifts till later.
1.Pres. Kennedy, Mr. DePlama, The mean black girls, Eugene, The old lady, old man, Eugene’s father, Eugene’s mother, Elena, Elena’s mother, Elena’s father.
President Kennedy- Pres. Kenndey was the president who got assassinated.
Mr. Deplama- Mr. Deplama was the gym teacher who was really upset when the pres. got assassinated.
The mean black girls- They called Elena mean names.
Eugene- Eugene was the guy who Elena had a crush on.
The old lady and old man- The had the little house by the tenant building.
Eugene’s mother and father- They where the parents of Eugene and they did not let Elena study with Eugene.
Elena- She was the main character of the story.
Elena’s parents- They are Elena parents, they live in a tenant building, and they were super sad when the president died.
2. The assassination or the president was the event when this story takes place. It is important because it marked an important time in history and a lot of people were sad that he died.
3. Elena’s mom say that because Eugene doesn’t live in the tenant building and is wealthier. She doesn’t stop Elena from leaving because she wants to show Elena that’s shes right. Elena’s mother is not a bad mother she cares for her and she doesn’t want Elena hurt. She does care if shes hurt.
4.I think that Eugene’s mother does not let Elena in her house because Elena is poor and from the tenet building, while Eugene’s family is not poor and they do not want their son associate with her.
